04_Summercamp collective

Summer camp in Bohuslän, Sweden, run and renovated by members of the Malarki Cooperative together with other friends and Bohus-lovers.

The house itself is a well preserved piece of Swedish history. In the 1940s, when it was built, there used to be hundreds of these camps in this part of Sweden. Originally conceived as a place for economically disadvantaged or sick kids went for a bit of summer leisure. The collective strives for it to continue to be an affordable space for organisations and inhabitants on the island to meet, rest and have fun.

The houses are carefully renovated with traditional methods that does not harm the simple wood construction or the environment. The original roof tiles were re-used and the facade is painted with the highest class of lineseed oil paint in the original colours.
