02_T(h)ree houses

In an old cultural region where the land and sea have been used for millennia, there is a plot of land that used to be part of a hilly farmyard. The southern part of the plot is covered with trees and tangled bushes, but towards the north, the plot opens up to the plain with a wide view of several miles. The project consists of a proposal for a client to build two vacation houses nestled among the trees, a contemporary addition to an old cultural environment. The plot can be considered an untouched oasis in a heavily cultivated agricultural landscape. The project examines how much of the plot can be left untouched and what we can add to further enhance the biodiversity.

The buildings will be constructed as carbon sinks, maximizing the use of materials such as wood, while minimizing the use of metal and concrete, and planning for minimal transportation. The houses will make low impact on the ground and will be built on poles. The construction will also be designed in a way that makes the process reversible. The buildings can be dismantled in the future for reuse or recycling without destroying them.
